World Footbrake Challenge
III Comes to Bristol Dragway July 17-19.

Bristol, TN: Coalburg Racing Promotions is pleased to announce that
the World Footbrake Challenge is back for a third season at
beautiful Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN. The event, historically
the richest Footbrake-only event of the drag racing season, will
continue that tradition although the format for the 2009 event will
change. The 2009 event will once again feature three days of
racing. In an effort to keep costs down, however, the event will
boast a $10,000 winners purse for each day of competition (rather
than the $50,000-to-win Saturday event in years past). Racers can
pre-enter the event for just $350 for all three days. Additionally,
for the racers who have supported the WFC in the past primarily for
the big payday possibilities, promoters have included a unique World
Footbrake Challenge Shootout to be contested Saturday morning.

That event will be open to the first 64 entrants, with an entry
fee of $1000. The shootout will pay $30,000-to-win, with payback
to the 2nd round winners. Obviously , the economy has fallen in
a lot of markets and people just can't afford to put much risk in
their racing programs. We understand completely but given the
support that we have received from the Footbrake community over
the past 2 years , we just couldn't go away and forget about this
event. (Co-promoter) Steve Stites challenged himself to come up
with a program that afforded more people the opportunity to
compete while maintaining the status of BIG MONEY Footbrake racing
that this event has established. Well , in my humble opinion , he
did it. The new format for the WFCIII allows more Footbrake racers
to get involved in ‘The World's Greatest Footbrake Race‘.
While the event has taken on some changes in purse and entry , the
‘extra’ part of the event allows it to stay atop of the
Footbrake racing payout mountain as well as giving 64 people the
opportunity to get after it for some GREAT money. We never
envisioned having to change the structure of this event after year
1 but I think we all would agree that times changed on us in a
hurry and we felt the necessity to build this year's event to fit
OUR class of people and racers. Hopefully , you all will see the
benefits to this change and you can fit it in your schedules to

The third annual World Footbrake Challenge will take place July
17-19 at Bristol Dragway. Pre-entry for the weekend is $350;
racers can pre-enter by check or money order via mail, or over the
phone with Visa or Mastercard. The pre-entry deadline is June 1,
2009. The World Footbrake Challenge Shootout will be a 64-car
field filled on a first come, first serve basis. Reserve your spot
